The Laba Festival of SIMO
The December of the lunar calendar commonly known as lunar. The eighth day of December is the Laba Festival. Laba Festival in China has a very long tradition and history. In this day, drinking rice porridge is the most traditional and exquisite custom all over the country. That day the majority of our regions have the custom of eating rice porridge. Laba porridge is with eight fresh food and fruits harvested when boiled, usually for the sweet porridge. Laba Festival wast to celebrate the harvest and thanks to ancestors and gods worship ceremony in the original ancient. Nowadays, it means peace and prosperity.
Of course, SIMO is no exception, when lunch time, each person's tableware are filled with rice porridge, the canteen was filled with thick fragrant rice. There are dates, lotus seeds, walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, grapes, roses, red beans, peanuts in porridge. We sat together enjoying this delicious rice porridge and everyone was filled with a happy smile.
