Proper pre-start inspections are crucial for ensuring the safe, stable, and efficient operation of centrifugal fans in industrial applications.
1. Check Fasteners and System Integrity
Ensure all bolts are fully tightened, including those on the casing access doors and duct connections. Also, verify that there are no foreign objects or personnel inside the fan casing or ductwork.
2. Lubrication System Check
Check that bearings and all lubrication points have been filled with the specified type of lubricant (oil or grease) and ensure the oil level is within the normal range.
3. Manual Rotation Check
After adding lubricant, manually rotate the impeller one full turn to confirm smooth rotation without binding or obstruction (exercise caution during this operation).
4. Check for Accumulated Water
Inspect the interior of the fan and ductwork for accumulated water to prevent operational instability and dynamic balance issues.
5. Inlet Damper Check
Check the operation of the inlet damper or control valve to ensure it responds smoothly to adjustment commands.
6. Start-up Load Control
When starting at line frequency, close the inlet damper to reduce the motor load during the start-up phase.
7. Cooling System Check
If a water-cooling system is used, ensure the cooling water flow is unobstructed; if the motor is equipped with an independent cooling fan, start it beforehand.
8. Safety Protocols
Adhere to all on-site safety regulations and industrial safe operating procedures prior to start-up.
Standardized start-up procedures help extend equipment lifespan, improve operational efficiency, and reduce operational risks associated with industrial centrifugal fans.
