Winter solstice is important Chinese solar term. In ancient times, there was a saying goes “winter solstice is as important as spring festival”. The festival custom of inheritance has been nearly 3000 years, which is a valuable intangible cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. Old saying says: “in October, the winter solstice, every household eating dumplings.” This custom is to commemorate the "Medical St." Zhang Zhongjing who is giving alms medicine in winter solstice.
