2×220 t/h CFB Boiler Project Equipped with Large Industrial Centrifugal Fans

Sep 04, 2026

Project Background

A new energy project in Inner Mongolia required a complete fan system for a 2×220 ton/hour circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler back-pressure generator unit.

Because the boiler system operates continuously under harsh process conditions, the fan system needed to provide stable airflow and reliable flue gas treatment throughout the production process.

Based on the updated operating requirements, SIMO BLOWER provided six centrifugal fans for the boiler system, including primary air fans, secondary air fans, and induced draft fans.

Customer Requirements

For a 2×220 ton/hour circulating fluidized bed boiler system, the fan equipment needs to be precisely matched to the boiler capacity and operating conditions.

● Key requirements include:

● High air volume

● Stable pressure performance

● Reliable continuous operation

● Configuration suitable for boiler flue gas treatment

● Reliable operation at high temperatures

● Mechanical stability of large rotating equipment

Especially for large induced draft fans, requiring air volumes up to 520,000 cubic meters/hour, equipment size and manufacturing quality are crucial for long-term operation.

Boiler System Fan Solutions

SIMO offers a variety of centrifugal fans to meet the diverse operational needs of boiler systems.

Primary Air Fan

Model: 1800SWB42D

Air Volume: 169,500 m³/h

Pressure: 10,500 Pa

Temperature: 20°C

Secondary Air Fan

Model: 1800SWB26D

Air Volume: 139,000 m³/h

Pressure: 15,500 Pa

Temperature: 20°C

Induced Draft Fan

Model: 3200DWB26F

Air Volume: 520,000 m³/h

Pressure: 12,000 Pa

Temperature: 140°C

Impeller Diameter: 3.2 m

The induced draft fan is specifically designed for handling large volumes of flue gas downstream of the boiler system and is one of the key components of the entire fan system.

3.2-meter Impeller: Manufacturing Capability is Crucial

The 3.2-meter diameter impeller of the induced draft fan places high demands on the manufacturing process.

For large centrifugal fan rotors, dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, welding quality, rotor assembly, and dynamic balancing directly affect the final operating condition of the equipment.

Large boiler systems require fans matched to actual process conditions, not just standard equipment.

The manufacturing process requires full control of rotating components, from manufacturing and assembly to balancing and inspection.

For SIMO, delivering this large induced draft fan demonstrates our capability to manufacture large centrifugal fans for large-capacity boilers and energy projects.

Based on Actual Boiler Operating Conditions

For industrial boiler projects, fan selection cannot solely rely on air volume.

The boiler's operating conditions determine the required fan capacity, pressure, temperature resistance, and equipment configuration.

In this project, SIMO considered the different functions of the primary air fan, secondary air fan, and induced draft fan, rather than using the same fan configuration throughout the system.

This ensures that each fan operates according to its specific process requirements.

Project Value

For large circulating fluidized bed boiler systems, the reliable operation of the blower directly impacts the supply of combustion air and flue gas emissions.

Selecting a suitable blower and combining it with large-scale production capacity helps achieve:

Stable air and flue gas handling

Reliable continuous operation

Perfect matching with boiler operating conditions

Reduce risks associated with excessively large rotating equipment

Lay a solid foundation for long-term stable operation of the equipment

SIMO BLOWER provides solutions for large industrial blower projects

SIMO BLOWER has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of centrifugal blowers for boilers, power generation, cement, metallurgy, and other industrial applications.

From standard industrial blowers to large units equipped with 3.2-meter impellers, our manufacturing processes are tailored to the specific operational needs of each project.
